How long does a mission call take?
Waiting is hard. Here is what the Church has published, and what families often notice.
What the Church says
- Service missions: usually two or three weeks after the stake president completes the recommendation (Service Missionary Candidate).
- Senior missions: usually about three weeks after Church headquarters receives the recommendation (Senior Missionary FAQ).
- For young teaching missionaries, the Church does not publish one set wait time.
What families often notice
Many families say new calls often show up in the Missionary Portal on a Monday evening or a Tuesday (U.S. time). This is what people report, not an official rule, and it can change.
While you wait
- Plan your call day.
- Set up a guessing game so family can guess.
- Look around the mission map.
