Missionary packing list

Your official packing list comes with your call in the Missionary Portal. Use this as a simple family checklist next to it.

Start with the official list

Your call packet in the Missionary Portal has your official packing list and clothing guidelines for your mission. It comes first. Each mission page here also has climate and packing tips.

Elders: common checklist

  • White shirts and missionary slacks
  • Ties, belt and suit (if your list asks for one)
  • Comfortable, sturdy dress shoes
  • Socks and garments
  • Weather gear for your mission’s climate

Sisters: common checklist

  • Skirts, dresses and tops that fit the guidelines
  • Comfortable, sturdy shoes for walking
  • Layers and weather gear for your mission’s climate
  • Garments

Everyone

  • Scriptures and a small notebook
  • Copies of passport and visa papers (if going abroad)
  • Medicine, with your doctor’s plan
  • A few photos of family
  • Remember: transfers mean moving with what you can carry.

Tip

Pack, then carry your bags around the block. If it’s too heavy, take something out.
