How to send a package to a missionary
Here’s what the Church’s official pages say about mail and packages, in plain words.
Get the right address
- At the Provo MTC, missionaries get an email with their full mailing address several days before they travel. Ask your missionary for it. MTC staff can’t give out addresses.
- In the mission field, use the address from your missionary or the mission office. Each mission page shows the office address when the Church publishes one.
How to send to the MTC
- Use U.S. Mail or a delivery service like UPS, FedEx or Amazon.
- Amazon delivers to the MTC only Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Don’t drop things off at the security booth, during temple visits, or over the fence. Food apps like DoorDash are turned away.
- Delivery texts aren’t always right. The missionary gets a notice in their mailbox when it really arrives.
Don’t send these to the MTC
- Anything that needs a fridge, fast food or frozen treats
- Ice packs, coolers or foam containers
- Dairy, cream desserts, fresh salsa or guacamole
- Meat or seafood (jerky is okay)
- Fresh fruit or vegetables
- Matches, lighters or fireworks
When they get it
Missionaries may read mail during the week and reply on preparation day (Missionary Standards, ch. 3).
Tips from other families
Shipping times, customs and costs are different in every country. The family groups on each mission page are a good place to ask what works. See also packages by country.
